Being Digitally Literate Helped My Life And Those Around Me...
I graduated from the premier university of education in Nigeria, gained double honours (Bachelor of Science degree and Bachelor of Education Degree in Economics).
I thought it was going be a smooth ride getting a job immediately after my National Service.
Oh well! it was not as easy as I think.
Though during the early days of my career journey, I have not been having problems getting job invites and interviews, but the headache is that I failed at most of the job aptitude test invitation I received.
I hated practicing those GMAT, GRE, SHL that was needed to secure my entry to the next stage of the job interview. When I was getting tired of my failures I took another direction to set my path to secure my first job.
It was during the 2015s, The need for Digital Skills started booming around in Lagos, Nigeria.
I was opportune to attend my first digital skill awareness session during Mr. Segun Abodurin's training at Planet One Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos. From the training, I saw digital skills as the future. I knew if I can start on this path it will safe not only me but the lives of other struggling youth like me.
It has been a great chance for me taking digital skills to over 5,000 young people and SME's during the year 2016 and again 2019 after an opportunity I took working with Konverge Media, a then Google partner training agency.
Now it has been a great privilege the more taking digital skills to young children living and schooling at the grassroots since 2019.
Thanks to Teach For Nigeria for giving me the platform to run the project I tagged "Project Evolve" intended to make children at my placement school to be digitally aware and acquire basic digital literacy skills and instil the confidence in them to continue learning and be future-ready.
The project has impacted 32 of learners in my school with basic digital skills and there's plan to make it a continued program and also getting teachers of the school involved.
